Get the skinfile of a decorative head you saw somewhere

Post by LordRazen »

If you don't have the give-code of a head it seems hard to get the skinfile - nope, not really. It's just very easy if you know how to use the cache for skinfiles in Minecraft:

  • Go to the Minecraft folder: %appdata%/.minecraft/assets/
  • Rename the folder "skins" to "_skins". You can also delete it, it's just a cache and everything in there can be reloaded later automatically.
  • Restart Minecraft
  • Make sure you see the head in Minecraft whereever it is - a map or a server, doesnt matter...
  • Check out the files in the newly created "skins" folder - if you add ".png" to the file you see it's a normal image and one of it is the skinfile you're looking for!
