We directly use the MC textures from the game to color match.

You can message me directly on the MCH Discord for a zip folder of the block and entity assests, or you can follow this tutorial:

First, make sure you have opened and launched the version/ snapshot of Minecraft you want the textures from so the folder will appear in your data. Just enter a solo world, wait for it to load, then exit to be sure.

Download 8 zip. There is a free version.

If you are on Windows, hold the Windows key and press R. This should open a little pop-up. Then type: %appdata%. In here, it should open your apps, and you should be able to find your . minecraft folder.
Open it.
Select the "Versions" folder.
Select the folder of the version you are wanting the textures from (example "1.19.2")
In the folder, there will be an Executable Jar File. Right click that folder, select open with 8 zip in the drop down.

In 8 zip: select assets, then Minecraft, then textures.
In textures, there will be files called "block" and "entity". Select these and download them.
You will now be able to open and use Minecraft game textures on your computer.

It depends on designer preference. You can use GIMP, PMCskin3d, Photoshop, windows xp paint.. etc. What matters is that the program must be able to support pixel art and use the colors you got earlier from the in-game textures.
